As mentioned in my prior post, the hurdles are steeper than I thought, but maybe I’ll at least keep chipping away at this one. One of my concerns is: I have to do a line-by-line calculation for each line in a giant file, and I’m wondering if R will be too slow for this. Also, I do calculations based on the prior inputs, so I’m worried about the “sequential” nature of these calculations and coding efficiency. I’m also not sure if the differential equations in the Stella model are equivalent to e.g. referencing the time step before it. All in all, I want to be sure I’m making a worthwhile time investment before diving too deep.
