I drove around after work before dark to kick off the weekend on the paper birch-lined roads. Today, within the vicinity of the township, I saw a bobcat. Ordinarily, I’d have more of a story to tell, but the current unofficial policy is to keep fur-bearer location private. So, I’ll have to broadly say it was at dusk, while not saying where I saw it. There’s good reason for this: while I doubt anyone reads my blog for this type of information, trappers do troll some of the forums I’m in for where to set their traps. So, I don’t want to risk it. It’s unfortunate that there are known poaching issues, because I’d love to be more open in sharing the joy of wildlife. However, illegal and out-of-season traps have been found in the area, so the stakes are too great.
